Ramesh Chellamuthu, MD, MBA

Dr. Ramesh Chellamuthu is a highly skilled and compassionate nephrologist who has dedicated his career to helping patients with kidney disease. He grew up on a farm, understanding the value of hard work and determination, and later earned his medical degree from Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. After completing his residency and fellowship in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Maimonides, Dr. Chellamuthu became board certified in both specialties.

Dr. Chellamuthu has demonstrated exceptional business skills, earning a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with summa cum laude honors and membership in prestigious honor societies such as Phi Kappa Phi and Gamma Beta Phi. His expertise in business extends to his professional career, where he has held various leadership roles, including serving as medical director at DaVita Dialysis and as a member of the physician council at Nephrology Practice Solutions. Currently, Dr. Chellamuthu serves as Chief of Staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, as well as Chairman of the Medical Executive Committee. In addition, he is a member of various committees, including Peer Review, Credentialing, By-laws, and QA/PI. Throughout his career, he has also held numerous leadership positions, including Secretary/Treasurer, Chairman of Nephrology, and membership on the Medical Executive Committee at Riverview Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Chellamuthu is not only a dedicated healthcare professional, but he is also a leader in the field. In addition to his professional pursuits, he is the founder and administrator of Regional Clinic, where he works tirelessly to improve the quality of care provided to patients. He is always seeking new ways to innovate and improve the clinic’s services, and is dedicated to providing the highest level of care to those in his community.He believes that healthcare should address not only the physical needs of his patients, but also their emotional well-being. Dr. Chellamuthu takes the time to listen to his patients’ concerns and address their individual needs, as he is deeply committed to providing the best possible care to each and every one of them.

Dr. Chellamuthu is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Nephrology, the Renal Physicians Association, and MGMA. He stays up-to-date on the latest developments in his field and has presented on various topics at conferences and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Outside of work, Dr. Chellamuthu enjoys reading, playing and coaching tennis, and spending time with his family. His wife is also a practicing physician in Gadsden, and together they have two children. Dr. Chellamuthu values the importance of finding balance and enjoying time with the people he loves. He is grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of his patients and is deeply committed to providing the best possible care to each and every one of them.
