Dr. Ramesh Chellamuthu is a highly skilled, board-certified nephrologist dedicated to improving the lives of patients with kidney disease. Raised on a farm, he learned early on the value of hard work and determination—traits that propelled him through his medical education at Madras Medical College in Chennai, India, and completed his residency and fellowship in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Chellamuthu’s business acumen is equally impressive. Earning his MBA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with summa cum laude honors, he joined prestigious honor societies such as Phi Kappa Phi and Gamma Beta Phi. His leadership roles have included serving as medical director at DaVita Dialysis, participating in the physician council at Nephrology Practice Solutions, and currently acting as Chief of Staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, where he also chairs the Medical Executive Committee. He remains active on various committees including Peer Review, Credentialing, By-laws, and QA/PI. At Riverview Regional Medical Center, he has served as Secretary/Treasurer, Chairman of Nephrology, and on the Medical Executive Committee.
Beyond administrative responsibilities, Dr. Chellamuthu is the founder and administrator of Regional Clinic, continually innovating to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Believing that healthcare must address both physical and emotional well-being, he offers a compassionate, personalized approach. He also actively participates in professional organizations such as the American Society of Nephrology, the Renal Physicians Association, and MGMA, staying current through research presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
Outside of work, Dr. Chellamuthu enjoys reading, playing and coaching tennis, and cherishing time with his wife—also a physician—and their two children. His guiding principle is that life reflects our actions: by mentoring others and helping them reach their goals, he lives out his commitment to service and the nobility of the human spirit.
