Dr. F. Duncan Scott is a highly skilled nephrologist who is committed to improving patient outcomes through an empathetic and holistic approach. Originally from Orlando, he was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by his father, a registered nurse. Dr. Scott has personal experience with asthma, which has further fueled his desire to help others.
After completing medical school at the University of Miami, Dr. Scott completed his internal medicine internship and residency at UAB in Birmingham. He then completed a two-year nephrology fellowship at the University of Virginia. He has practiced medicine in both Florida and Alabama since finishing his training. Dr. Scott was drawn to a career in nephrology because of the complex patient problems and inpatient care it involves, as well as the influence of clinician mentors during his training. He believes that educating patients about their conditions and encouraging self-monitoring allows them to take a more active role in their own care and in preventing illness.
In his free time, Dr. Scott enjoys spending time with his children, riding bikes, exercising, boating, traveling, and outdoor cooking. He takes particular pride in teaching his children how to cook. He also values the collegial relationship that is fostered at the Regional Clinic.
